About FurtherAI

FurtherAI is a domain-specific AI for the insurance industry. Its AI Workspace automates workflows like submission intake, policy comparisons and underwriting audits; a submission that took an underwriter 6-8 hours can be completed in as little as 10-15 minutes. FurtherAI supports customers writing over $15B in premiums across all 50 US states, serving insurers, reinsurers, MGAs and brokers. Founded 2024, $30M total funding, backed by a16z, Y Combinator, Nexus, South Park Commons and Converge. Both founders are engineers.

The role

Own and scale FurtherAI's AI organization, leading the team building production LLM-powered agents that automate critical insurance workflows, and shaping the technical direction of the entire AI org.

What you'll do

Own and grow the AI org, scaling it into three teams: AI infrastructure (routing & reliability), Agent intelligence (evals, shared tools, multimodal pipelines), and Agentic products (customer-facing AI assistant, long-running workflows)

Set technical direction for agents that hold up in real production on real customer money, including model routing, multi-agent orchestration and reliability

Recruit, mentor and retain a world-class team of AI engineers, hiring the leaders beneath you as the org scales post-Series A

Stay deeply technical: still in the code and architecture, setting the bar by example

Push the frontier of what AI agents can do for insurance

Tech stack

LLMs, Agentic AI, Python, Multi-agent orchestration, Model routing, Evaluation frameworks, Multimodal pipelines

Requirements

7+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering and managing teams at a VC-backed startup

Hands-on technical leadership in production LLM agents (model routing, multi-agent orchestration, evals, reliability)

Experience recruiting, mentoring and retaining engineering teams
