Senior Data Engineer – Ocean & Energy

Oslo (Stavanger possible) · Hybrid · Full-time · Antire Analytics

Are you a senior data engineer who wants to build the data foundations for AI — lakehouse platforms in Microsoft Fabric and Databricks that clients use for real decisions? Antire Analytics is looking for a consultant with 5+ years of experience to design and deliver data platforms for clients across industries. Some experience from energy, offshore or maritime is a bonus — but not a requirement.

We help organisations build the bridge from raw data to decisions. You'll be one of the people who builds it.

The role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Antire, you work directly with our clients. You help them design, build and run the data platforms their analytics, AI and operations depend on.

Our clients range from energy, offshore and shipping to hospitality, security and the public sector. You'll work in two ways: on strategic projects where Antire owns the delivery from idea to production, and as a senior expert embedded in a client's own team. Some engagements are short and architecture-heavy, others mean months of hands-on delivery. Either way, you're the person they trust to make the data platform work — technically and in conversation with the business.

You'll work alongside data architects, analysts, ML engineers and AI specialists at Antire, and you'll help shape how we deliver data engineering as a practice.

Ocean & Energy

Ocean and Energy is not all we do, but it's a large and growing part of our work — and a big part of our future. These are industries where precision is non-negotiable and every datapoint must hold steady, even when conditions don't.

Here, data comes from sensors on offshore installations, vessel fleets and wind farms, often as high-frequency time series from operational systems. Your job is to turn those scattered streams into trusted data platforms that operators, engineers and our AI teams can rely on — from real-time monitoring to forecasting and optimisation.

You don't need deep domain expertise to thrive with us — we'll help you learn the industry along the way. If you've worked with these industries before, even on a single project, that's a bonus, and you'll find plenty of colleagues here who speak the language.

Your work will help entire industries move — from energy to oceans — by turning data into direction.

What you'll do

Design and build lakehouse platforms in Microsoft Fabric and Databricks (Delta Lake, medallion architecture, Unity Catalog)

Develop batch and streaming pipelines with PySpark, SQL and Fabric/Azure Data Factory

Ingest and model data from ERP systems, APIs, IoT sensors and time-series sources, and make it ready for Power BI and ML

Set up CI/CD, infrastructure as code and DataOps, with testing, monitoring and observability built in

Build security, access control and data governance into the design from day one

Advise clients on architecture, platform choices and how to move from pilot to production

Mentor colleagues and contribute to Antire's methods, accelerators and pre-sales

Our typical stack: Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure (ADLS Gen2, Data Factory, Event Hubs, Key Vault), Python/PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake, Power BI, Git, Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions, Terraform/Bicep.

What we're looking for

You have

5+ years of hands-on data engineering, preferably as a consultant or in a data platform team

Strong experience with Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric, Spark (PySpark) and SQL

Solid knowledge of Azure data services and modern lakehouse architecture

Experience with CI/CD, Git and automated testing of data pipelines

Confidence in front of clients: you can explain trade-offs to both developers and business leaders

Fluent English and a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish or Danish) — this is a firm requirement

It's a strong plus if you have

Some exposure to energy, offshore, oil and gas, renewables or maritime — even a single project counts — for example operational data, sensor/IoT data, vessel data or data from historians such as AVEVA PI

Experience with streaming and real-time data (Structured Streaming, Event Hubs, Kafka)

Infrastructure as code (Terraform or Bicep)

Certifications such as Databricks Certified Data Engineer or Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer (DP-700)

Experience preparing data for ML and AI use cases

What you get

Being people-first means taking good care of the basics. We offer very strong salary, pension and insurance terms: a competitive salary with a bonus that rewards your impact, a pension well above the statutory minimum, and an insurance package that covers you and your family — at work and in your free time. If life happens, you keep your full salary during sick leave and parental leave.

Varied engagements across industries, with real ownership from architecture to production

A strong technical community: data engineers, architects, ML engineers and AI specialists in 4 countries

Paid certifications and a personal learning budget of 20 days per year

Time to contribute to accelerators, internal tools and the Data Engineering practice

Competitive fixed salary plus a quarterly bonus tied to billing

A pension scheme well above the statutory minimum

Full salary during sick leave and parental leave

Health insurance (online GP, physiotherapy and chiropractor, psychologist), plus travel insurance covering your family, group life, critical illness and leisure accident insurance

Mobile phone and subscription, headset, and coverage for home internet, fitness and AI tools

Modern offices: HQ in central Oslo with employee restaurant and gym, and a new office at Forus

A social calendar with monthly 2nd Friday talks, Holmenkollstafetten, summer and Christmas parties and an annual winter trip
