Senior Frontend Engineer (Engagement)
RubyPlay is a place where passion meets competence. Since 2017, we've created 250+ innovative games and built 100+ strong partnerships worldwide.
Proud to be:
- The Winner at BFTH Arena Awards — Best Online Casino Game
- Shortlisted for SBC Awards 2024 — Casino/Slots Developer of the Year
- A strong player across 10+ global markets
- A trusted workplace for hundreds of specialists from 34 countries
Our team builds the interactive features that make online casino games more engaging, including promotions, free rounds, tournaments, missions, and jackpots.
We're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to develop and maintain the shared frontend technology powering these features across our game portfolio.
This isn't a typical UI development role. You'll work on complex application behavior, real-time events, asynchronous workflows, and reusable components that need to work reliably across many games.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain shared frontend libraries used across multiple games
- Build event-driven features involving complex state transitions, asynchronous operations, and real-time communication with backend services
- Ensure new functionality integrates reliably with existing game systems while maintaining backward compatibility
- Investigate challenging issues involving race conditions, application lifecycle, and interactions between different features
- Improve code quality, maintainability, and reusability through thoughtful architecture and refactoring
- Collaborate with fellow engineers, game developers, designers, and product stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
- Contribute to technical decisions, code reviews, and improvements to development practices
Skills
- 5+ years of experience with TypeScript and JavaScript, building complex frontend applications, frameworks, or shared libraries
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, state management, and application lifecycle
- Experience designing and maintaining reusable components or libraries
- Ability to investigate complex issues across frontend and backend integrations
- Solid understanding of software architecture, maintainability, testing, and backward compatibility
- Upper-Intermediate English or higher (B2+, C1 preferred)
Nice to have:
- Experience in iGaming or HTML5 game development, particularly with PixiJS or Phaser
- Experience developing SDKs, frameworks, or shared libraries used by multiple teams
- Familiarity with WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, or other real-time communication technologies
- Experience with state machines or statechart-based architectures
- Understanding of distributed systems and asynchronous messaging
Strong candidates with fewer years of experience but demonstrated expertise in complex frontend architecture or shared frameworks are welcome to apply
What you'll tackle early on
- Get familiar with our shared frontend architecture and how interactive features integrate with game clients
- Start contributing to existing functionality, improving reliability and addressing technical issues
- Work on integrations with external promotion and engagement platforms
- Contribute to upcoming features, including jackpot functionality and improvements to our existing player engagement systems
What success looks like in 6 months:
- You independently deliver complex frontend changes with a strong focus on quality and reliability
- You've taken ownership of meaningful parts of our shared frontend technology
- You've contributed to a major feature or technical improvement
- Your work has improved the maintainability, stability, or extensibility of our systems
- You collaborate effectively with engineers and product stakeholders across the organization
Benefits
- Your work reaches players across RubyPlay's entire game portfolio
- Interesting engineering challenges involving state machines, real-time events, and shared frontend architecture
- A strong international team with a fully remote working environment
- Growth budgets, bonuses, English classes, development days, paid vacation, and well-being support
If you enjoy figuring out how complex systems behave, not just how they look, we should talk!
