Applications are now open for our 2028 Ireland trainee solicitor programme

Ogier runs one of the best trainee solicitor programmes in Ireland. We hire candidates who can demonstrate intelligence, commercial awareness, and personality. We value EQ as highly as IQ and we are now recruiting for trainee solicitors to join our September 2028 intake.

Responsibilities

Operating to the standards set by the Law Society of Ireland, the training contract gives trainees the opportunity to develop their understanding of legal practice and prepare for their future careers as solicitors. For this intake, trainees will begin at Blackhall in September 2028 before starting their in-office training with Ogier in July 2029.

Training contracts in the Dublin office are based on rotations in different departments, which are known as “seats”. Each seat will be for a period of three, six or nine months. In these seats, you will learn about several practice areas within Ogier.

Ogier specialises in the following work areas:

  • Banking and Finance
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Funds
  • Tax
  • Real Estate
  • Restructuring and Insolvency

With regular updates and a formal review at the end of every seat you'll have an opportunity to reflect upon your personal development and progress. We have a fully interactive learning management platform, allowing you control to track your performance as you go.

Skills

Our trainee programme has been designed to supplement the PPC course and we are committed to supporting and developing our trainees to be extraordinary future solicitors. We support trainees through external and supplementary courses where needed.

The next generation of our firm must be collaborative and tech-savvy with strong academic achievement, and eager to drive our business forward.

Why choose us?

At Ogier, you will have opportunities to take on meaningful work, learn from colleagues and develop throughout your training contract, including the chance to:

  • gain practical experience by working on client matters, seeing work through from initial setup to completion
  • take on responsibility early in your career, with support and guidance as you develop
  • work with colleagues across Ogier’s international offices and gain experience of cross-jurisdictional matters
  • learn in a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and regular feedback helps you progress
  • be part of a welcoming, collaborative team where colleagues take the time to get to know you

Applications are invited from students currently in their final year of a Law degree, or undertaking or have recently completed their FE1 exams. The academic requirements for acceptance onto our Irish trainee solicitor programme are:

  • at least six completed FE1s
  • 2:1 Degree (non-law degree background welcome)

Applications close on 8 November 2026.

If your application stands out, you will be shortlisted for a first-stage interview. These interviews will take place in January 2027. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted in advance with further details.
