We’re currently looking for an Occasional Babysitter in San Rafael, CA 94903

A lovely family in the Terra Linda neighborhood of San Rafael is seeking an occasional babysitter for their two children, ages 5 and 8, with an immediate start. Backup care is needed intermittently on weekdays from 2:45PM–7:30PM/8PM, with Wednesdays starting at 2PM. The family would also appreciate candidates who have weekday availability from 7:45AM–11AM, though this is not a requirement. The children are active and enjoy playing on their iPads. The 8-year-old is autistic, so the family would especially love to find a caregiver with experience supporting children with speech delays or special needs. There is also a large, friendly dog in the home. Ideally, the caregiver will be comfortable taking the dog for 1–2 walks across the street during evening shifts.

Start date: Immediate
Length of Position: Ongoing
Schedule: Intermittent care – No guaranteed hours
Evening needs: Weekdays, 2PM-8PM, or 2:45PM-8PM (some days may end as early as 7:30PM)
Daytime needs: Weekdays, 7:45AM-11AM
Compensation: $30-$35 per hour

Responsibilities

Ensuring children have backpack essentials (mornings only)
School bus drop offs in the morning for 5 year old (~1 mile from family's home)
School bus pick-ups for both children (8 year old’s bus stop is in front of the family’s home)
Reheating meals & assisting with light meal prep for children
Light tidying related to the children, including play spaces and dishes
Providing occasional bathroom assistance to the 5-year-old
Walking the family dog 1–2 times across the street during evening shifts

Skills

Minimum of 2 years of paid professional childcare experience
CPR certified, or willingness to become certified
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
High School diploma or equivalent
Able to provide 2 childcare-related references from a professional setting
Able to successfully clear a background and social media screening
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and valid auto insurance
Reliable vehicle to transport children
Experience with special needs or speech delays is a plus
Comfortable with friendly dogs
