### About Upstart

At Upstart, we’re united by a mission that matters: to radically reduce the cost and complexity of borrowing for all Americans. Every day, we bring creativity, experimentation, and advanced AI to reshape access to credit, helping millions move forward financially with clarity and confidence.

As the leading AI lending marketplace, we partner with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit through technology that’s both radically intelligent and deeply human. Our platform runs over one million predictions per borrower using more than 3,000 signals, powering smarter, fairer decisions for millions of customers. But the numbers only hint at the impact. Every idea, every voice, and every contribution moves us closer to a world where credit never stands between people and their financial progress.

We’re proudly digital-first, giving most Upstarters the flexibility to do their best work from wherever they thrive, alongside teammates across 80+ cities in the US and Canada. Digital-first doesn’t mean distant. We’re intentional about in-person connection through team onsites, planning sessions, and moments that spark creativity and trust. And whether you choose to work primarily from home or collaborate in-person from one of our offices in Columbus, Austin, the Bay Area, or New York City, you’ll have the support to work in the way that works best for you.

If you’re energized by tackling meaningful problems, excited to innovate with purpose, and motivated by work that truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.

### The Team

Upstart’s Compliance team helps ensure the company operates in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and maintains effective risk management practices. As part of the second line of defense, the team partners with business and operations stakeholders to oversee compliance issues, strengthen remediation practices, and support regulatory readiness.

As the Senior Compliance Associate, Issues Management at Upstart, you will support the end-to-end compliance issue management lifecycle, from identification and tracking through remediation validation and closure. You will help strengthen program effectiveness by identifying emerging risks, improving issue reporting, and ensuring remediation efforts are timely, well-documented, and sustainable.

- Review and challenge remediation plans, milestones, and supporting evidence to ensure corrective actions address identified issues and meet established requirements.
- Maintain accurate issue inventories, monitor remediation progress and aging, and proactively identify delays or high-risk issues requiring escalation.
- Support independent validation and closure activities by evaluating remediation evidence, documenting findings, and confirming closure requirements have been met.
- Analyze issue trends, recurring themes, and root causes to deliver reporting and insights that inform compliance oversight and risk-based prioritization.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders to improve remediation quality, strengthen issue management procedures, and support regulatory readiness.
### Minimum Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience in compliance, issue management, audit, or risk management within banking or financial services.
- Experience supporting the lifecycle of compliance, risk, audit, or regulatory issues, including issue tracking and remediation monitoring.

- Experience maintaining issue records or inventories within a regulated risk or compliance environment.
### Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of second-line compliance oversight, issue management frameworks, and remediation validation practices within financial services.
