We’re looking for a Compliance Analyst to join our team in Waterloo. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract role with a hybrid work arrangement with travel recquired to our Waterloo, Ontario office.

As our Compliance Analyst, you’ll help keep TextNow’s compliance program running smoothly day to day. Working with guidance from the Compliance, Security, and IT team, you’ll support work across brand protection, regulatory filings, privacy, training, and policy management.

This is a cross-functional role where you’ll partner with teams across the company, learn how they work, and help turn compliance requirements into clear, practical steps. It’s a great fit for someone who wants to build a strong foundation in compliance at a fast-moving tech and telecom company.

What You’ll Do

Support Compliance Projects

  • Investigate potential trademark infringements, gather evidence, and report to the required entities. Escalate internally and externally when required.
  • Prepare and complete required regulatory filings accurately and before deadlines.
  • Help product and engineering teams complete Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) by gathering information and tracking them through review. Suggest improvements to the DPIA process as you spot opportunities.
  • Support internal and external audits (such as SOC 2) by collecting evidence, organizing documentation, and helping respond to auditor requests.

Strengthen Policies and Training

  • Coordinate compliance trainings and track their completion across the company.
  • Create and share educational materials that help employees understand their obligations.
  • Help draft new policies and procedures, and coordinate reviews of existing ones to keep them current as requirements change.

Keep Compliance Work on Track

  • Track compliance projects and tasks to completion, flagging risks or delays early.
  • Take ownership of your work and follow through on your commitments.

Partner Across the Business

  • Build relationships with internal teams to understand their work and identify where they need compliance support.
  • Communicate compliance expectations clearly and seek feedback to make sure everyone shares the same understanding.

What You’ll Bring

  • 1–3 years of experience in compliance, legal, risk, privacy, or a related role, ideally in a tech, telecom, or other regulated environment.
  • Foundational knowledge of regulatory and compliance concepts, and the ability to quickly learn internal policies and the frameworks that apply to our business.
  • Exposure to privacy regulations such as PIPEDA or CCPA, trademark basics, or training coordination is a strong plus.
  • Experience with GRC or compliance management tools, Jira or Confluence, or security awareness training platforms is a plus.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage several tasks and deadlines at once.
  • High attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining requirements to non-specialists.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll be successful by delivering reliable, high-quality compliance work, including:

  • Filings, trademark investigations, DPIAs, and audit requests completed accurately, with no missed deadlines.
