Staff Accountant

Location: U.S. Remote

Reports to: Controller

About the role

We’re building a smarter, faster accounting function, and you’ll help shape how we get there. As our Staff Accountant, you’ll join a lean, high-performing team reporting to the Controller, where you’ll own key accounting workflows, drive an accurate and timely close, and use AI and automation to make our processes more efficient.

You’ll combine strong accounting fundamentals with a builder’s mindset. We’ll give you the opportunity to strengthen financial controls, improve how work gets done, and grow into more complex areas like multi-entity and technical accounting as our SaaS business scales.

What you’ll do

  • Own accounting accuracy. Oversee accounts payable, employee expenses, and procurement workflows in Ramp, using automation to streamline transaction coding, approvals, documentation, and exception tracking.
  • Drive the month-end close. Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and assigned close schedules. Use AI-enabled tools to identify discrepancies, accelerate analysis, and deliver reliable results.
  • Strengthen reconciliations. Own assigned bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations in NetSuite. Use automated matching and exception detection to focus your time on resolving differences and validating balances.
  • Improve procurement controls. Partner with stakeholders to resolve vendor onboarding, purchasing, approval, and contract renewal exceptions while maintaining accurate records and policy compliance.
  • Maintain accounting integrity. Support fixed asset, depreciation, and lease accounting schedules, ensuring financial records remain accurate and supported.
  • Keep us audit-ready. Maintain clear documentation, validate supporting schedules, and help prepare audit requests, sales tax filings, and annual 1099 reporting.
  • Build smarter workflows. Identify repetitive accounting tasks, test AI-powered solutions, and partner with the team to implement reliable automation with appropriate human review.
  • Turn data into action. Investigate unusual transactions, identify recurring issues, and recommend improvements that strengthen financial accuracy and operational efficiency.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 2+ years of experience in corporate or public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience with accounting systems and financial workflows. NetSuite and Ramp experience are preferred.
  • Practical AI fluency. You know how to use AI tools to accelerate research, organize information, analyze exceptions, or improve repeatable workflows while checking outputs for accuracy.
  • AI workflow orchestration skills. You can break a process into clear steps, identify where automation adds value, and apply human review where judgment or financial controls matter.
  • Strong analytical judgment and attention to detail. You investigate discrepancies, challenge assumptions, and take ownership of accurate results.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach. You communicate clearly, raise risks early, and build trust across teams.
  • Curiosity and a drive to improve. You look for better ways to work, adapt quickly, and take pride in delivering reliable results.
  • SaaS or multi-entity accounting experience is a plus.
