Position Overview

We are seeking a Director, Market Lead – Insurance to support InvoiceCloud's Product Strategy team. This role owns InvoiceCloud's strategy for the Insurance market and serves as its market-facing authority, without carrying a P&L or a sales quota.

The ideal candidate is a leader with deep P&C insurance experience, particularly in core policy administration and claims systems, who has run procurement, selection or implementation for enterprise clients, or deployed solutions like ours, and who also builds. They operate with Director-level scope: they shape strategy for a market, influence senior leaders across Product, Sales and Marketing, and reconcile many stakeholder views to drive business results.

Success Profile

This role is anchored in our company's leadership competencies. These competencies reflect the mindsets and behaviors that define success in this role. Below is how each competency translates into meaningful impact and outcomes for this position.

Results-Driven

  • Owns the Insurance market strategy and converts it into clear, prioritized recommendations for where InvoiceCloud should compete, while staying accountable for outcomes without holding a P&L or quota.
  • Builds shipped prototypes personally, using AI tooling to compress research, requirements and prototyping cycle times, and explains the decisions behind the work.
  • Reports market progress and results to senior leaders and holds the team accountable to agreed priorities.

Strategic

  • Develops the medium- to long-term Insurance market strategy and cascades it into plans that Product, Sales and Marketing can execute.
  • Applies deep knowledge of how insurance buyers run procurement, selection and implementation to explain where InvoiceCloud wins and loses.
  • Tracks competitors and adjacent platforms and turns that insight into roadmap and partnership recommendations.
  • Acts as the market-facing authority and thought leader for Insurance, shaping how customers, partners and the market see InvoiceCloud.

Collaboration

  • Partners with Product and Engineering leaders to translate Insurance market insight into roadmap priorities.
  • Works alongside Sales leadership to support customers and prospects without owning revenue or quota, and coordinates with peer market leads on shared patterns.
  • Reconciles the views of multiple stakeholders, including customers, executives and partners, to drive aligned decisions.

Communicates Effectively

  • Presents Insurance market findings and recommendations clearly to executives, senior leaders and major customers.
  • Walks others through the decisions behind prototypes and concepts, including what was cut and why.
  • Represents InvoiceCloud credibly with customers, partners and industry audiences, including negotiating matters of significance to the organization.

Requirements

  • Experience owning market, industry or vertical strategy for software or services serving P&C insurance, ideally core policy administration and claims systems
  • Experience helping enterprise clients run procurement, selection or implementation of solutions like ours, or deploying such solutions
  • A shipped prototype or complete product concept that you built yourself, with the ability to walk through the decisions behind it and what you cut
  • Current, hands-on use of prototyping tools, including which tools you use, how often, and which you stopped using
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders across Product, Sales and Marketing without owning a P&L or quota
