The Role...

As the Deputy Multiplatform Editor for House Beautiful and Country Living, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the brand’s digital platforms, working closely with the Multiplatform Editors to deliver audience growth, editorial excellence and commercial success.

You’ll support the wider editorial team, help shape content strategy through data-led insights, oversee workflows and step into a leadership role when needed to ensure the smooth running of the digital operation.

Main Duties...

  • Work closely with the Multiplatform Editors (MEs) to optimise workflows, enabling writers and editors to contribute effectively across all digital platforms while meeting KPIs and monthly performance targets.
  • Support the MEs in the day-to-day running of the brand’s digital platforms, including editing copy, producing and curating five weekly newsletters, providing editorial feedback, identifying traffic-driving opportunities, and implementing strategies to grow audience and engagement.
  • Line-manage the Multiplatform Writer, providing guidance, training and ongoing support, while helping to develop the wider editorial team where needed.
  • Step up to cover the MEs during periods of absence, acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Lead daily editorial meetings when required, using audience analytics and performance data to identify content gaps, uncover opportunities and help shape the day’s publishing priorities.
  • Support other areas of the digital business, including Apple News, special editorial projects and wider brand events, as required.
  • Manage a pool of freelance writers, overseeing commissioning, editing and delivery to meet editorial standards.
  • Assist in the communication of the brands’ vision to internal and external PRs, agents and clients.
  • Promote the brand, when necessary, through media and public appearances.
  • Act as an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.

What We Are Looking For...

Essential

  • Excellent digital copywriting and editing skills, with the ability to write, edit and publish high-quality content to tight deadlines. A strong understanding of what makes a traffic-driving digital story, with the ability to craft compelling headlines for Google Discover, SEO and social.
  • Someone who can support the MEs in delivering the brand’s digital strategies and day-to-day editorial operations.
  • A proactive self-starter who can identify opportunities, solve problems and take ownership of projects.
  • Someone with a keen interest in homes, interiors and lifestyle content.
  • Comfortable using audience analytics and performance data to inform editorial decisions.
  • A supportive people manager with experience leading, developing and motivating writers and freelancers.
  • A strong communicator who can confidently act as a key point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Someone who can build and maintain strong relationships with PRs and external contacts.
