We take play seriously. We’re looking for curious adventurers ready to find their party, fueled by imagination and drive to build what’s never been built before. At Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, you’ll collaborate with passionate teams to reimagine our iconic brands and create experiences that spark joy, connection, and community through the magic of play. This is your chance to shape legendary play that lasts a lifetime.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to join our Business Systems Engineering (BSE) organization. We build the platform and applications that power the creation and production of Magic: The Gathering®, Dungeons & Dragons®, and Duel Masters®. These products drive over $2 billion in annual revenue and are beloved by millions of players worldwide. The systems we build are what make that work possible.

This is a role with high impact and real stakes. You'll set technical direction, shape engineering culture, and lead others while staying hands-on. You'll work on the cutting edge of AI-driven software development, pairing technical excellence and engineering discipline with AI-accelerated delivery ensuring quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability. We're on a journey to make history, and we want you to help lead it!

If you're motivated by ownership, care deeply about the craft, and want to build something that matters — join the party.

Location and Work Arrangement

This role is based at our Renton, Washington office and follows a hybrid schedule designed to support in-person collaboration. Employees are expected to work onsite on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with the flexibility to work remotely or onsite on Mondays and Fridays.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop services and applications on AWS that are core to our product creation platform.
  • Champion engineering standards across the organization, resulting in effective system design at both the application and service level.
  • Leverage and enhance our AI-assisted development tooling, continuously improving the practices, review standards, and quality gates that keep AI-accelerated delivery reliable and maintainable.
  • Own technical decisions end-to-end: assess tradeoffs, align partners, drive execution, and follow through without waiting to be asked.
  • Translate business challenges into well-designed, scalable software solutions in partnership with product owners and cross-functional partners.
  • Influence and build up your teammates through technical direction, and code and design reviews, supporting their growth and career development.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a lead, staff, or senior+ capacity.
  • Proven track record building and operating production-grade enterprise software. Deep understanding of application and distributed system design and architecture patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development workflows and the judgment to critically evaluate AI-generated code against production quality standards.
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET, Java, Go or comparable languages, AWS, Docker/Elastic Container Service (ECS)/Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), CI/CD pipelines, REST APIs, event-driven systems, and relational database design.
  • A history of influencing engineers through pairing, feedback, and driving technical excellence among your team.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the communication skills to drive outcomes across technical and non-technical partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience with React.js or other popular frontend frameworks.
  • Familiarity with event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, AWS Simple Notification Service (SNS)/Simple Queue Service (SQS)).
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Curiosity about or knowledge of Wizards brands.

Who We Are

We’re a team of creators, storytellers, and innovators united under the Hasbro family and home to beloved brands, AAA digital games studios and immersive experiences that spark imagination across generations. Together, we’re committed to a culture rooted in creativity, excellence, curiosity, and inclusion, and where every employee is empowered to think boldly, act with integrity, and spark joy for all.
