Opportunities span Java/backend development, Python and AI integration, and Kubernetes-focused software engineering. You will collaborate with engineers and customer stakeholders to develop reliable, secure, and maintainable software. Your responsibilities will align with your experience, technical specialty, and the needs of the specific opening.
What You'll be Owning
Depending on your assignment, you will:

- Build and integrate enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices.
- Develop Python-based services and integrate AI capabilities into enterprise applications.
- Develop and maintain containerized applications and Kubernetes deployments.
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Use development tools and, where applicable, AI coding assistants to support implementation, refactoring, and testing while reviewing generated code for security, performance, and quality.
- Collaborate within an Agile team to translate requirements into working software.
- For senior openings, provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions.
Positions may require work at a customer site, office, or a combination of onsite and remote work. Hybrid availability and onsite frequency depend on the specific opening and may change with customer requirements.
What You Must Have
- An active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher and U.S. citizenship. Certain openings require an active Top Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI. Candidates must meet the clearance requirements of the specific assignment.
Relevant software engineering experience and education appropriate to the opening
- All openings require at least 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field; 3 years with a related master’s degree; or 9 years with a high-school diploma or equivalent.
- Senior openings require at least 9 years of relevant experience with a related bachelor’s degree; 7 years with a related master’s degree; or 13 years with a high-school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience developing, testing, maintaining, or troubleshooting software in a relevant technical specialty.
- Experience designing enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices.
- Familiarity with Git or comparable version-control tools and comfort working in a Linux environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to software quality, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to meet the location and onsite requirements of the assigned opening.
- For designated openings, an applicable DoD 8140/8570 certification, such as Security+, or the ability to obtain the required certification within the specified timeframe, which may be within 60 days of hire.
- Candidates are considered for openings that match their skills; experience in every specialty below is not required.
- Java and backend development: Strong Java development skills; experience with frameworks or libraries such as Spring or Guava; object-oriented programming; enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices; and tools such as Git, Maven, and Nexus.
- Python and AI integration: Strong Python backend development experience; hands-on integration of commercial large language model APIs or open-source models into applications; understanding of agents, prompting, tool use, and retrieval-augmented generation; and experience deploying containerized workloads in Kubernetes. Assignments may include developing Model Context Protocol servers, reusable AI tools, and safeguards for enterprise AI use.
- Kubernetes-focused software engineering: Strong Java development experience and hands-on experience building and maintaining Kubernetes deployments using tools such as Helm and Flux.
