## Description (the employer's text)

Celonis is the trusted platform to industrialize Enterprise AI. At our core is the Celonis Context Model — which combines process data, business knowledge, and intelligence into a living digital twin of the enterprise that AI can actually understand, turning AI's operational blind spots into operational clarity. World's leading companies trust Celonis and its global ecosystem of partners to make their AI agents, people, systems, and processes work together, achieving transformational outcomes. We believe there's a massive opportunity to unlock global productivity and sustainability by giving AI the context to understand how every business process really works. Join our mission to make processes work for people, companies, and the planet.

### The Team

Celonis USA is the fastest-growing division of one of the world’s fastest-growing companies.

Come join us on the ground floor on a team dedicated to developing state-of-the-art technology for core Celonis services. The Data Core team builds an engineering team to develop the high-throughput infrastructure that powers monetization, real-time consumption tracking, dynamic entitlement enforcement, and cost optimization across the Celonis services. As our global customer base expands, our backend services process billions of telemetry and usage events daily to deliver precise, transparent, and fault-tolerant billing data in multi-cloud environments.

Join us if you want to grow in your engineering knowledge, tackle complex distributed systems challenges, and leave your mark on a rapidly growing company.

### The Role

We are looking for a senior backend developer who enjoys building resilient, low-latency, and high-throughput systems at scale. Within our Pricing service team, you will design and implement the mission-critical core engines that ingest usage telemetry, evaluate dynamic pricing models, enforce feature entitlements, and power cost analytics dashboards for enterprise customers.

### The work you’ll do

- Design and implement critical, high-performance microservices to process, aggregate, and reconcile usage telemetry at massive scale with exact-once processing semantics.
- Evangelize best practices in distributed database usage, stream processing, and event-driven end-to-end architecture.
- Set an example for, mentor, and grow your teammates across engineering initiatives.
- Recognize and take action to improve system reliability, developer work environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Write clean, understandable, fault-tolerant, and testable code for billing-critical systems.
- Provide thoughtful feedback on technical designs, data schemas, and code reviews of peers.
- Manage individual project priorities, architecture decision records (ADRs), deadlines, and deliverables.
- Document development procedures, metering contracts, system concepts, and domain knowledge.
- Build, launch, and maintain business-critical backend services in production across multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Help define a fun, inclusive, and execution-driven engineering culture.
### The qualifications you need

- BS in Computer Science or related technical field; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building enterprise-grade backend services.
- Experienced in backend development using Java (Spring Boot framework expertise preferred).
- Strong background in real-time stream processing, message queues, or event-driven systems (e.g., Apache Kafka, Flink).
- Familiar with relational and non-relational database design (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redis) with a focus on data accuracy and idempotency.
- Familiar with containerization and cloud orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Preferred experience or strong interest in consumption-based pricing, metering infrastructure, financial ledgers, or billing integrations.
The base salary range below is for the role in the specified location, based on a Full Time Schedule.
