Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact

As a Site Reliability Engineer on the Kubernetes team in Axon's Compute Platform Engineering (CPE) organization, you'll help run and evolve the platform that Axon's products run on: a large, global fleet of Azure AKS and Amazon EKS clusters across commercial and government clouds. You care about system stability, clear documentation, and tools that make the platform easy and safe for engineering teams to use. You'll own platform features end to end, from design through rollout.

Location: This role is based out of our Boston, MA, Atlanta, GA, or Seattle, WA office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation.

Reports to: Engineering Manager, Compute Platform Engineering

What You'll Do

  • Own platform features and components end to end, including design docs and rollout plans.
  • Review teammates' changes and share operational knowledge across the team and with partner teams.
  • Build and operate robust, easy-to-use Kubernetes platforms and tooling that let engineering teams provision and run services rapidly, consistently, and securely.
  • Automate cluster provisioning, bootstrapping, upgrades, and day-2 operations with infrastructure as code and GitOps.
  • Continually improve reliability, operability, and cost efficiency across the fleet, including node autoscaling and right-sizing.
  • Keep the platform secure and compliant through policy enforcement, vulnerability remediation, and government-cloud requirements such as FIPS.
  • Debug problems in cloud-native distributed systems, and take part in the team's on-call rotation.
  • Write code that is performant, maintainable, clear, and concise.
  • Write documentation and guides that let engineers self-serve.
  • Use agentic AI tooling to automate platform operations and accelerate the team's engineering work.
  • Take calculated risks, champion new ideas, and cultivate your craft.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering
  • Experience building and operating Kubernetes platforms such as AKS, EKS, or similar in production
  • Experience building platforms on Azure or AWS
  • Experience with a programming language such as Python, Go, C#, Java, or similar
  • Experience with CI/CD and Git-based workflows to automate infrastructure provisioning, builds, tests, and releases
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar), including flexible, testable modules
  • Experience using observability tools (metrics, logs, traces, APM) to debug issues
  • Experience designing tooling that simplifies the operation of SaaS/PaaS systems
  • Hands-on experience applying AI and agentic tooling to engineering or operations work
  • Empathy for the needs of software engineers
  • United States citizenship, required to obtain CJIS clearance for full access to US production environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GitOps using ArgoCD and Helm
  • Experience with cluster autoscaling and cost optimization (Karpenter, Vertical Pod Autoscaler, or similar)
  • Experience with Kubernetes policy and security tooling (Kyverno, OPA/Gatekeeper, or similar)
  • Experience in government or regulated cloud environments (Azure Government, FedRAMP/GovRAMP, CJIS)
  • Exposure to 24/7 high-volume systems with formal SLA requirements

Benefits that Benefit You

  • Competitive salary and 401k with employer match
  • Discretionary paid time off
