## Description (the employer's text)

### About Turn/River

Turn/River Capital is a private equity firm that partners with software businesses to drive AI transformation and catalyze capital-efficient growth. As a team of equal parts software operators and investors, we have the people, data-driven playbooks and flexible capital to re-architect engineering, product, go-to-market, talent and resourcing to build enduring value. Founded in 2012 and based in San Francisco, Turn/River has $5.6bn in committed capital and invests globally with a focus on North America and Europe.

### About the Role

Turn/River is seeking a VP, Talent Partner to work directly with our portfolio companies to assess, design, and strengthen their executive and go-to-market organizations. This role sits at the intersection of talent strategy, organizational design, and commercial performance — with a primary focus on executive and go-to-market teams.

You will bring deep expertise in executive search best practices, leadership assessment, and org design — and you will apply that expertise in service of one outcome: teams that scale faster and perform better. You understand how to evaluate whether an executive is the right person for the next stage of growth. You know how to structure a go-to-market org for efficiency.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who loves rolling up their sleeves, thrives in ambiguity, and can credibly advise both a CHRO and broader Executive team.

### Key Responsibilities

Define (and for key roles, run) the executive hiring process across portfolio companies.

Partner with portfolio company CHROs to assess organization health and recommend structural, talent, and capability improvements.

Design and conduct assessments of executive & GTM leaders, making clear, time-pressured recommendations on whether leaders are right for the next stage of growth.

Design and evolve org structures aligned to stage, growth goals, and business model — including spans of control, coverage ratios, and role architecture.

Advise on hiring profiles, interview processes, and onboarding approaches for critical GTM roles.

Identify repeatable talent and org design best practices that can be leveraged across the Turn/River portfolio.

Act as a visible, trusted representative of Turn/River with portfolio leadership teams.

### Qualifications

10+ years of experience, with meaningful depth in People, Talent, or Organizational Effectiveness — significant exposure to GTM and sales organizations is a plus.

Ability to assess executive leadership with rigor: making clear, defensible recommendations on leadership fit within 30-60 days of engagement.

History of working closely alongside a CHRO or CPO, with proven ability to influence without authority across complex org change initiatives.

Nice to have: Exposure to commercial environments with fluency in comp plan design, quota-setting, territory structure, and coverage modeling.

Nice to have: Prior experience as a Talent Partner, Operating Partner, or VP Talent at a PE or VC firm — or equivalent experience conducting executive assessments in a high-stakes, time-pressured context.

### Location

San Francisco, hybrid work model

### Compensation

The annual base salary range for this role is $345,000 - $355,000, taking into account numerous variable factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements.

This role is eligible to participate in the Turn/River carry program and a discretionary bonus program.
