The Role

You’ll work directly with the Foreman, the Shop Lead, and engineering teams to support build and development of various prototypes and production runs, as well as test new prototyping and production methods.

This is a role for a motivated self starter who is eager to work on a variety of different projects and is interested in learning new skills along the way. This is a great opportunity to work alongside some of the best and brightest engineers, technicians, and machinists in the industry.

What You’ll Do

Construct, wire, and modify experimental prototypes, custom test fixtures, and electronic or mechanical assemblies according to schematics, CAD models, or engineering instructions

Set up, calibrate, and execute standard testing procedures on components, sub-assemblies, and finished products using specialized test equipment

Perform root-cause failure analysis on malfunctioning hardware, electrical circuits, or mechanical systems, and execute necessary repairs or adjustments

Record detailed test results, track metric logs, and draft comprehensive technical reports, lab notes, and bug filings for engineering teams

Draft, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety documentation based on hands-on testing feedback

Partner closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and quality control personnel to resolve technical bottlenecks and improve design manufacturability

What We’re Looking For

4+ years working in a prototyping shop or early stage manufacturing environment

Ability to operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex test equipment, machinery, and specialized diagnostic tools

Ability to build, assemble, modify, and test physical prototypes, custom fixtures, or electronic assemblies with limited schematics or engineering blueprints

Familiarity with Design for Serviceability, Design for Manufacturing, Failure Analysis, and other engineering concepts as they apply to physical hardware

Ability to execute rigorous test plans, record precise experimental data, and document test results clearly for engineering review

Ability to lift 50 points, move heavy materials with a pallet jack, and ability to be mobile for extended periods of time

Ability to be punctual and work well with limited direct supervision
