About Critical Loop

Critical Loop is shaping the next generation of energy systems by building the integrated edge grid of the future. Specializing in advanced energy management and battery control systems, Critical Loop empowers businesses and communities to seamlessly unite distributed energy resources for faster, more reliable, and affordable grid access. With deep expertise in grid modernization and a passion for creating resilient, responsive energy solutions, Critical Loop drives innovation at the intersection of technology and energy.

About the Role

Critical Loop is looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead the development of sophisticated power, digital, and mixed-signal electronic systems. This role will have significant ownership of hardware development, spanning initial system architecture and component selection through schematic design, PCB development, hardware bring-up, validation, and final production release.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently while partnering closely with engineering leadership to make system-level technical decisions, solve complex hardware challenges, and bring designs from concept to production. Strong hands-on expertise in power electronics, FPGA-based control, and hardware development is essential.

What You’ll Do

Electrical Design & System Architecture

Take ownership of complete electrical hardware development, including mixed-signal, digital, and power electronics, from initial architecture through final design release.

Establish and drive system-level electrical architectures, including power-conversion approaches, control interfaces, protection strategies, and signal-processing chains.

Design and develop high-voltage DC-DC and DC-AC conversion systems, motor-drive electronics, and power-management circuitry.

Create and support FPGA-based control and signal-processing systems using VHDL or Verilog, including simulation, timing closure, and integration with embedded control platforms.

Develop production-ready schematics, bills of materials, and PCB layouts while establishing design practices that support manufacturability, reliability, and consistent production.

Contribute to electrical design reviews, failure-mode analysis, and design-for-manufacturing activities to identify and address potential issues before production.

Hardware Bring-Up, Testing & Validation

Take the lead on hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, and debugging of new boards and electronic systems across power, digital, and mixed-signal applications.

Utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other laboratory equipment to diagnose hardware performance and complex electrical issues.

Develop and execute electrical validation and characterization strategies covering areas such as thermal performance, efficiency, EMI, and functional operation.

Analyze test results and convert findings into actionable hardware and design improvements.

Support environmental qualification and regulatory compliance activities, including EMC, electrical safety, and other applicable certification requirements.

What We’re Looking For

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.

3–7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience focused on hardware or product development.

Extensive hands-on experience designing power electronics, particularly in areas such as DC-DC converters, motor drives, high-voltage systems, or energy-storage interfaces.

Strong background in mixed-signal circuit development, including analog signal conditioning, ADCs, sensors, and filtering.

Demonstrated FPGA development experience with VHDL or Verilog, including simulation, synthesis, and hardware-level validation.

Proficiency with Altium or comparable PCB design software, along with a strong understanding of GD&T and formal engineering documentation.

Significant laboratory experience with advanced electrical test equipment and the ability to independently diagnose and resolve sophisticated hardware problems.
