ABOUT CIVILGRID

CivilGrid is the trusted civil design platform powering affordable infrastructure renewal and growth. We give utilities, civil engineers, and municipalities a single, collaborative source of truth for what's underground so teams can plan, design, and build faster, smarter, and safer.

Our platform consolidates utility records, geotechnical and environmental data, paving moratoriums, and jurisdictional requirements directly from 3,000+ utilities, agencies, and municipalities with full chain-of-custody documentation. Teams at PG&E, Mark Thomas, and dozens of leading engineering firms use CivilGrid to cut research time by up to 88%, reduce project costs, prevent dig-ins, and accelerate delivery on the projects that keep communities running.

We're a venture-backed Series A startup tackling a $4.7T US infrastructure market that has been underserved by software for decades. Founded by industry insiders, each with 10+ years in utilities and civil engineering, we move fast, ship work that matters, and stay close to the customers and field teams we build for.

WHY THIS ROLE

CivilGrid is growing quickly, with offices in Boston, San Francisco, Fort Mill, Kansas City, and Philadelphia and employees in more than 20 states. As we scale, we need a dedicated owner for the Boston office operations and company-wide IT. You'll be the go-to, trusted resource for our entire team, with the opportunity to build the standards and best practices this function runs on.

This role reports to the Head of People Operations and will be based in our Boston office. It is an onsite role with expectations that you are working from the office 5 days per week if hired. We are only considering candidates in the greater Boston area at this time.

Current or previous Genius Bar team members are highly encouraged to apply!

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Own CivilGrid's computer fleet end to end across every office and remote employee: ordering, setup, tracking, returns, and replacement

Get Electric AI, our MDM, running at full capacity so every device is enrolled, secure, and set up the same way

Make sure new hires have a ready-to-go Mac or PC on day one, and departing employees' devices are recovered and wiped

Resolve everyday IT issues fast, and route anything bigger to the right person so nobody is stuck waiting

Keep the Boston office stocked, clean, and ready for visitors, with supplies, snacks, and a great first impression for candidates

Plan and run office events that bring the Boston team together

Partner with People Ops on onboarding and offboarding

As we grow, build the IT playbook (device standards, setup checklists, how-to guides) that help us scale

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

2 to 4 years in IT support, help desk, office coordination, or a similar operations role

Hands-on comfort with both macOS and Windows: you can set up, troubleshoot, and reset a laptop without a tutorial

Organized enough to track hundreds of small things (devices, orders, requests) without dropping any

Bias to action: you fix the problem or find who can, instead of waiting to be told

Low ego and plenty of patience

Clear writing, especially for instructions other people need to follow

Ability to work onsite in our downtown Boston office

BONUS POINTS

Experience administering an MDM (Electric AI, Jumpcloud, Jamf, Intune or similar)

Experience coordinating and overseeing an office move

Prior experience at an early-stage startup (Seed to Series B)

HOW WE WORK

We're a small, but rapidly growing team that ships. Expect direct feedback, real ownership from day one, and proximity to customers — huge utilities, public agencies, and engineering firms whose work depends on what we build. We default to in-person collaboration where it matters and remote-friendly flexibility otherwise. We hire people who care deeply about their craft and the communities our customers serve.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The base salary range for this role is $69,003 – $81,180.

Base salary is only one part of your total compensation package at CivilGrid, which also includes meaningful early-stage equity, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to shape a category-defining company. The base salary range listed above may encompass various levels and/or geographic locations; final offers are determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, level, and work location.
